January 2022
/Program: Watch your email for details!

I loved seeing everyone for our Holiday gathering – Thank you to the committee for planning a great event! Bummed we are postponing the Brown Bag Hustle but I think I have a backup plan. Keep your eyes on the VQ website and Members Only Facebook page for details!
In November we had Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill from Whole Circle Studio. Her method for needle turn applique worked well for me and I am looking forward to finishing this project soon. Her blog has a wonderful archive of articles that will help you if you were not able to attend the workshop.
February brings another online meeting, lecture, and workshop. We have scheduled Linda Hahn from Frog Hollow Designs to get us into a “New York Beauty” state of mind. Workshop information is on the website. I just received tracking information for the kits; stay tuned for more information when they arrive.

Christine’s Chatter
I trust your holiday season was festive and you were able to spend time with loved ones. We were so blessed to have our family together for about five days after not having Christmas together for the past four years. Christmas with a two-year-old was so much fun. It was totally worth the mess. I gifted a quilt this year to my son-in-law. He is quite a Star Wars fan and I made a “Mandalorian” lap quilt for him. I’m pretty sure he liked it because every time he sat down, he was wrapped in it.
I am writing this on New Year’s Eve and am grateful that COVID has not struck anyone in our family these past two years. We shelved our plan of having a party tonight and will be at home quietly watching the ball drop.
The guild’s Holiday Party was a smash thanks to the committee of Sharon Pierluissi, Celia Stratman, Carrol Stovold, Donna Derstadt and Nancy Zamora. The sweet treats were delightful and the decorating was understated but so elegant. I always love the White Elephant exchange. I lost track – now who has the bowl and tray?
I have the unfortunate announcement to make that we will not have an in-person meeting in January which means that we will NOT have the Brown Bag Hustle at this time. We hope to have this event later in the year as conditions with COVID improve but as of this writing, the situation of infected individuals continues to grow nationally and worldwide. We do not want any of our members to be in an environment that is unsafe. All that said, if you are like me, you are organizing things once the holiday decorations come down. Isn’t that the usual theme in all advertising? Lose weight and organize! Now is the time to go through your sewing space and decide what should go to the Brown Bag. It is a great fundraiser for our guild and you may leave with more treasures than you brought.
We will have a virtual meeting in January with an as yet to be announced program. Stay tuned for the login information.
Hopefully, our next in-person meeting will be in April for our Annual Meeting. There are positions open on the board. If you are interested in serving, please contact Marti Austin.
Please let me know if you want to continue to have a sew-in on the fourth Tuesday of the month. I will cancel January’s sew-in due to COVID conditions.
Many blessings to you in the coming year. Here’s hoping to in-person, unmasked meetings at some point.

Quilters New Years Resolution – from Mill House Quilts newsletter
My 2022 New Years Resolution is to finish all the projects from 2021 that I should have completed in 2020 after starting them in 2019 while buying all the fabric in 2018 and after buying the pattern and planning everything because I was inspired by the 2017 Quilt Sampler.
Remember, people who start projects and never finish them are cooler than people who never start them.
