Programs

I can’t wait to see actual people at our December get-together… I am having a hard time deciding which quilt to bring as my Show and Tell! Last month we had Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill from Whole Circle Studio. I was so excited she was able to make room in her busy schedule to join us for a lecture and a workshop. The workshop was great and I am looking forward to finishing the project on December 11th with Part Two!

In December and January we will be meeting in person for events at the church – keep checking the site for information as it comes available.

February brings another online meeting, lecture, and workshop. We have scheduled Linda Hahn from Frog Hollow Designs to get us into a “New York Beauty” state of mind. Workshop information is on the website and she is sending me a bunch of kits for the class. I will send information when I have them.

See you at the Party!

Christine’s Chatter

I trust you had a special time with family and friends this Thanksgiving season. We had a smaller than usual gathering but took some time to give thanks for all of our blessings. Now we enter one of the busiest times of the year but as of this writing, we have been able to get some shopping done and start thinking about decorating for the season. Are you in the throes of finishing up Christmas gifts? I know I am.

Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill was such a delight at our November meeting. From the pictures I’ve seen on our Members Only Facebook page, I think her workshop for Double Friendship Knots was a roaring success.

Great news! We are meeting in person for our December Holiday social. It looks a bit different this year than previous years but the committee has put together a delightful meeting with sweet treats, hot drinks, fun games and Show ’n’ Tell. Sounds like a great evening of fun and friendship. Remember it is a week earlier than usual due to holiday conflicts. See you on the 14th at 6:30 p.m.

January brings the annual Brown Bag Hustle. You have an opportunity to donate items from your stash or sewing room that you don’t love anymore. (Think Marie Kondo, Tidying up gal) and obtain things you might love from someone else’s stash. You can even bring projects that no longer bring you joy. This evening of fun will take place in person on January 18th. It is a great fundraiser for our guild.

May this season draw you to reflect on what is really important… After Christmas fabric sales!

Looking forward to seeing all of you soon.

Christine Tindell, President

Iron Quilter Challenge

The Iron Quilter Challenge is coming. I will be distributing bags of fabric starting at the December meeting. Bags will be available any time after that by contacting me. Rules for the challenge will be distributed with the bags of fabric. Your finished quilt must be at the April 2022 meeting for voting and donation. Be creative and have fun!

Liz Greenhill, Service Committee

Village Quilters Iron Quilter Challenge 2022 Rules

  1. A quilter (or group of quilters) will be given a bag of mismatched fabric to use in their quilt.

  2. You do not have to use all the fabric, but you must use a majority of it.

  3. You do not need to use the entire piece of fabric, but a big enough piece to represent each particular fabric in the bag.

  4. Quilts can be made by one person or by a group of people; i.e., some Bees will make one quilt.

  5. Quilts do not have to be made from a bag of Iron Quilter fabric; a quilter may prefer to use their own fabric. Quilters not using a bag of “Iron Quilter” fabric will not be included in the contest, but the quilt can still be donated.

  6. Quilts can be any size. Since Staben House is for women and children. quilters may make smaller quilts for the kids or babies.

  7. All eligible finished quilts must be presented at the April meeting.

  8. Quilts will be voted on by the members of the guild and the winner will be awarded at the end of the meeting.

  9. All quilts will be donated at the end of the April meeting.

  10. Be creative and have fun!

  11. All quilts will be donated to Eddie Washington Center and Staben House.
