May 2019
/2019-20 Programs Register for a Workshop
All five workshops for the 2019-2020 year are listed on the website, ready for you to sign up. The fifth, for those of you who missed both the retreat and the April meeting, is Marla Yeager's "Fractured Fat Quarters", a quick and easy fat quarter friendly quilt that will help you bust some stash. We still have openings in all workshops.
The May and June workshops, Mary Hertel's "Paper Piecing with Marnie" and Bill Kerr's "Working with Large Scale Prints", are open to non-members as well now. If you have a friend who isn't a member but would be interested in one of these workshops, please invite them to register. We'd love to have them! The remaining workshops will open to non-members as well the month before they occur.
You and your friend can sign up online. It's quick and easy, and the workshops are not only educational (even for experienced quilters), but they are fun as well. Talking, laughing, sewing together with friends makes for a lovely day. Chocolate has been known to make an appearance as well. Don't miss out, register today.
See you at a workshop!

News from the President
Friends, This last weather event has got to be the last. Right?
We had a nice dinner at our annual business meeting, didn't we? The food was yummy and seeing everyone's quilts presented at show and tell was inspiring. Kudos to Slyvia Bath Jo Bailey and all those who helped set up and clean up.
Our support of the Staben House is very impressive. Thank you to Peggy Schumenaur and Andrea Krier for leading our group. As a guild we should be proud of the time and effort we gave to the children served by the Staben House.
A hardy thank you to all the retiring board members and to those who are assuming new roles. Without you we wouldn't have a guild.
Our quilting year begins this month. Please keep in mind that the quilt show is nearing, so keep busy, and please consider attending a few workshops this year. We join a guild because we want to be with friends, we want to share our talents, we want to be inspired by others and we want to learn new techniques and new approaches to old problems.
This is a good time to think about your commitment to our guild. Our guild is a vital, competent, effective organization. These words describe our guild because of the effort each of you give. Please take pride in what we have and continue to take part in all that you can.
Marti

83 Quilts donated to the Staben House
Many, many thanks to our members who gave of their time to achieve this extraordinary response to this year's service project. With 83 quilts, the Staben House will be able to present a quilt to each arriving child for the next couple of years. A special thanks goes to Sue Ann Kuby who made about 20 quilts, and to Judy Hillebrand for providing many yards of colorful fabric. We hope everyone had fun participating in the project and can feel satisfaction in knowing that so many children will have a quilt to call their own. We took pictures of every quilt and you can see all the quilts on the Service page of the web site.
It was so much fun to see the creativity, colors and different styles. Everybody outdid themselves!

If you need a pattern let me know and we will get you one. This year we will be asking everyone to price their items for sale. I will have tickets available at the next meeting.
