Let’s do lunch at the quilt show!
We’d love to have you participate in the Hospitality lunch breaks! At Tuesday’s guild meeting, lists for food opportunities (such as a crock pot of hot dogs, crackers & cheese, or some brownies) will be available for you to offer. If you want to sign up but can’t be at the meeting, call Sylvia or Jo. Anything you can bring for Friday or Saturday will be greatly appreciated. See you there!
Quilt Appraisals at Quilts from the Village XV
As you work on finishing your quilts for our quilt show, please consider signing up for a quilt appraisal. Sandy Schweitzer, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser, will be appraising quilts during our show in October. Appraisals take approximately thirty minutes and each appraisal is $50.00 (cash or check); Sandy also donates $5.00 from each appraisal back to our guild.
Quilts are appraised for one of three reasons: Insurance (replacement value); fair market (comparable sales value); and donation (comparable sales value). If you would like to sign up for an appraisal, Judy Hillebrand will be located at a table by the entrance at our general meetings, or you can call or email me to sign up or ask questions.
Show Layout Needs Volunteers
The Show Layout needs two groups of volunteers:
- to help plan which quilts will hang where— that work will be done between the middle of August and before September 8th. Will meet two or three times as needed and
- to tape the floor marking where the stands will be placed on Wednesday, October 11. This will require lots of bending and getting up and down on the floor.
Sign up online or see Patricia Warren at the next meeting. Let’s make this work fun!
Silent Auction
Doll quilts, table runners, and wall hangings—Oh, My! All are needed for the Silent Auction at the upcoming quilt show. Our Silent Auction committee has collected about 20 items so far, and we would like to at least double that number. This important fund raiser raised about $2,000 at the last show; a handsome contribution to our bottom line.
Our guild has so many talented quilters; if each of us makes a small item (or more?) we can have a wonderful display to tempt attendees. Contributions can be turned in to the committee any time up to the day of (and even the day of) the show. Members—please take a little time to make something. Your contribution be greatly appreciated.
