Program: It’s All About the Show!

Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 7:00 PM – Grace United Methodist Church

Our show is 1 month from now; I can’t believe it! It sure has been a year of ups and downs with COVID concerns. The general meeting on September 21 will not only be our first live meeting, but will be used to present the plans for the show! PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND. We will be going through all the steps to hang the show and the jobs that are required to present an awesome show. If you haven’t already signed up to work, there are several openings on the website. If you haven’t printed the fliers yet and distributed them, you can do it from the VQ website. Please keep passing out bookmarks and selling raffle tickets.

Everyone who has entered quilts will receive the printed ID cards to be attached to the lower left corner on the back of your quilts. Sue Minster has come up with several changes to the setup activities that should make the job easier. Since every member is expected to help with this process, it is important that you know what those are. There are several jobs which do not require standing. You will be able to sign up at the meeting. You can turn in your items for Boutique and Silent Auction at the meeting. We will be able to tell you what you have signed up to do (in case you have forgotten). If you need to make alternative arrangements for dropping off or picking up your quilts, you will be able to do that as well.

Lastly, everyone who attends the show will be required to wear a mask. We will have them available at the entrance. Many have voiced excitement about our show; we should have a good turnout. Let’s make this the best one so far!

Christine’s Chatter

President Christine.jpg

The enthusiasm Veruschka Zarate has for her craft of foundation paper piecing was contagious at our August membership meeting. Her quilts are so fabulous and the way she uses color is totally out of the box and I loved seeing her process.

September in our guild on “odd” years brings the excitement of another quilt show. If you are at all like me, you are attempting to finish things for the Silent Auction, Boutique, and possibly a Quilt of Valor. The two days of our show take two years to plan. I hope you have all signed up for a position to assist in some way. I know there are all kinds of jobs available.

Our September meeting will be in person at Grace United Methodist Church and will be all about the show. Church doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you all there. FYI: We will not have a sew-in in September.

Lake Bluff quilt.JPG

Many members of our guild designed and sewed a commemorative quilt for the Village of Lake Bluff on the occasion of their 125th anniversary. The anniversary celebration was to occur in the summer of 2020. COVID cancelled those plans. The quilt was made and given to the Village and is to be dedicated on Saturday September 18th at the Lake Bluff Public Safety Building at 1:30 p.m. The makers will be there and you are invited too. There will be a small reception with refreshments after.

Can’t wait to see you all in person on September 21st!
