The Schedule this Week
The four big days are upon us. To everyone who is helping (that’s all of us), here is a timeline and a list of things to bring:
Wednesday, October 2 - Marking the floors from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with Christine and Madge
Please bring something to kneel on and a tape measure. We will provide coffee for the morning and lunch. Seven members are signed up but we can always use more!
Wednesday, October 2 - Moving equipment with Kimberly
Please bring gloves and muscles. We have rented a truck with a lift gate, so we don’t have to lift the heavy items. We have purchased four carts to move the poles for the stands, and four carts for the plates.
Thursday, October 3 – Check In from 7:00 am – 9:00 am with Feather
Make sure your ID cards are attached to the lower left-hand corner (as you face the back) of your quilt with two safety pins.
Thursday, October 3 - Set Up from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm with Marti and Margaret
Leave your coats and belongings in the Hospitality Room upstairs, and then come to the Equipment Depot at the south end of the show floor for your Crew assignment.
7:00 AM: Eight members will place the stand bases, the uprights and the crossbars.
8:00 AM: Equipment Depot set up begins, including seated jobs (passing out hooks, straps)
8:30 AM: All able members are needed to hang drapes and then the quilts under the direction of our crew chiefs
Please bring a wagon or cart if you have one, a short (4- or 6-foot, lightweight) ladder or tall step stool with a handle, old sheets, and wear comfortable shoes (an extra pair maybe, I do). Lunch will be provided. Plenty of jobs that can be done sitting! Thanks to the new stands, we don’t need hammers, shims, staple guns and standing on tall ladders. We can use more help!
Friday, October 4 – Quilt Show from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Check the shift you signed up for, be on time, wear your name tag, and be proud to represent our guild!
Saturday, October 5 – Quilt Show from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Check the shift you signed up for, be on time, wear your name tag, and be proud to represent our guild!
Saturday, October 5 – Take Down with Marti and Margaret after 4:00 pm
We will need the same equipment for Take Down that we did for Set Up (see above).
Crews who set up the show will run the dismantling of the quilt racks, and the rest of the guild will sort and fold drapes, pick up quilt racks from the show floor in carts, and deliver to the truck. Much of this work can be done on tables, so there are seated and light-duty jobs available.
If you are not able to work, please wait in the Hospitality Room. This is an issue of safety for everyone. You will not be allowed on the quilt show floor if you are not working.
There are all kinds of jobs, and not many excuses for not helping.
Saturday, October 5 – Check out after the show is down with Feather
No quilts will be distributed to members until the entire show is down and the truck is completely loaded. The members who will unload the truck into storage will get their quilts first. Once these quilts have been distributed and the truck is leaving, we will distribute the rest of the quilts. Everyone can help, at every level of activity...it's fun!
Village Quilters Banner Is Missing
Village Quilters has a banner that we'd like to hang at the show. Longtime members may remember that it was used on the podium at guild meetings. If it's at all possible that you once had the banner (past presidents, board or committee members, etc.), please check your storage areas! If you find it or know where the Village Quilters banner is, please contact Kate Klein.
