Sarah is a designer, piercer, quilter and teacher of textile arts. She has been quilting for over 15 years and long arm quilting since 2016.
In September 2019 Sarah Volunteered to long arm quilt an unfinished estate sale find. By November the project had garnered national media attention and required extra work on Sarah's part. Before quilting it, she coordinated the perparation of the blocks (embroidered by 100 different artis) and supervised the hand piecing of the top by 35 adtional volunteers. She will talk about he process of creating Rita's Quilt, from inspiration to completion and share pictures.
“Rita’s quilt,” as the project is known, became a viral sensation in the fall, when dozens of people across the country came together to finish it. The stitchers hope, to honor Rita Smith, an Illinois woman they never met.
