Valli Schiller began her love affair with sewing and design at age 10 when she transformed a castoff chenille bedspread into a decidedly unusual angel costume. Many garments, costumes, curtains and quilts later, her passion for creating wonderful stuff out of fabric and thread continues. She's an enthusiastic machine stitcher who loves experimenting with innovative techniques and sharing them with others.
Valli’s quilts have been exhibited internationally, in such venues as the IQA judged show in Houston, the AQS judged show in Paducah and the European Quilt Expo in Lyon, France. One of her quilts was a finalist in the 2007 $100,000 Quilt Challenge. Her quilts have won multiple awards including Best of Show (MN Quilters 2006, Quilt Odyssey 2005), First Place blue ribbons (MQX Midwest 2016, IQA Houston
2005 & 2007, AQS Paducah 2005, MN Quilters 2005), Best Use of Color (Mid-Atlantic 2006, Pacific Int’l 2004),
Best Domestic Machine Quilting (MN Quilters 2004), and Viewer’s Choice (MQX Midwest 2016).
Her work has been featured in many publications including Quilter’s Newsletter, the $100,000 Quilt Challenge Magazine, Quilter’s World, Quilt It for Keepsakes, American Quilter Magazine and the AQS 2006 Quilt Art Engagement Calendar.
