Speaker: Jane Reents

Join our own Jane Reents, a Village Quilters member and Certified Judy Niemeyer Instructor, as she presents a lecture and trunk show of her beautiful quilts.

Jane Reents became a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor in May 2014. Jane began quilting 9 years ago. She became hooked on quiltworx.com 's paper piecing in 2010 and began to make 30 + quilts. You will see many quilts with different techniques that even a beginner can accomplish. You will hear about Jane's quilting journey and the Love of Paper Piecing.

Jane lives in Wauconda.  She grew up sewing her own clothing; which made the transition to quilting easy. After a shop hop, she received an email from quiltfabric.com! (A certified Judy Niemeyer shop.) She saw the most beautiful quilt advertising a class and Immediately signed up in January 2010, where she began her first Judy Niemeyer project, Glacier Star. Jane was so excited after the first class! Learning to foundation paper piece was so easy and organized. After that first class, she went online and researched this “Judy Niemeyer” whom she hadn’t heard of before. (Being a fairly new quilter she didn’t know any pattern creators.) She knew immediately she wanted to become a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor.

Jane took her first class with Judy at Stitchin’ Heaven in Mineola, Texas in April 2012. In June 2012, she attended another class with Judy in Kalispell, MT; again in 2013, and again in 2014 getting certified. She has since focused on making as many of Judy’s quilts as time allows, in order to teach other people Judy’s techniques at local Chicago area fabric shops.

Growing up in central Iowa on a farm; she worked in the fields and with livestock beside her father. (One of dad’s “boy’s.”)  She learned how to grow a vegetable garden and “can” food for the winter from her mom. Being involved in 4-H for eight years taught Jane to sew clothing, refurbish old furniture, grow award winning flower gardens, vegetable gardens, cook, and bake. Jane also has experience in knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint, ceramics, and sewing clothing.
